Just minding my own business, backing out of a spot...then my parking sensors flatlined.
I was basically out of my spot and putting it into first, and she didn’t see and just backed right into me.
She admitted fault.
Her car has expired insurance.
Her car isn’t even registered.
More to follow...this could get hairy.
The worst part is that it nipped my quarter panel, probably increasing the repair cost by a thousand or so.

:(
Hope it gets fixed soon.

Do you have uninsured motorist insurance?

A shitty driver didn’t have insurance and wasn’t in their own car? I’m sure all three are related.

Damn dude! Sorry to see that. I guess her Jetta was jealous of your fancy Jetta.

There’s probably a number of reasons she doesn’t have insurance, a lot of them demonstrated in this post.
I had a car totaled by an uninsured motorist, but fortunately had insurance for that.

Sadly she was clueless...she was young and it was her mom’s car.

I have good insurance so probably.

Ouch!
Quarter panel dents are literally the worst possible. Somebody ran into my brothers car last week, while he was parked at school(luckily they left a note). It looks like a small dent above the wheel, however the repair shop said it will probably cost around €1200 to fix, since the dent is exactly at the spot where the quarter panel is welded to the wheel well.
Anyhow, good luck with getting your car repaired.

Maybe just expired info then?

Top tip: never back out. Reverse in and drive out. You might then see who’s about to hit you while they back out.

Natural pet store and a bike shop in the same strip mall, has to be Boulder. The foothill in the background is a dead giveaway too.
Good luck with everything.

Hopefully, I made sure I got it because I used to live in Texas. With enough Mexicans running around, and by that I mean Mexican nationals driving Mexican registered cars, I figured that could be a potential nightmare trying to deal with insurance internationally.
I used to be friends with a foreign girl at the company I worked at, she had good insurance but didn’t have uninsured motorist coverage. She only found that out after her car got hit.

That just means you get hit while pulling in?

This is why I cringe when I see cars with expired registration. Registration itself isn’t especially expensive, so you can be pretty sure they aren’t insured. Suppose they could just be failing emissions, but if they aren’t willing to fix that, and willing to drive around with an unregistered car, it seems a good bet they aren’t paying for insurance either.

This exact thing happened to me with my across the street neighbor. Except they hit me right in the wheel well. Her exact words were “I no see you, I just back!” over and over again like her not seeing me means it isn’t her fault. I lived on a cul de sac so I guess her strategy was to just roll the dice every time.

You might be able to see your imminent attacker while so doing.
Maybe.
You might then be able to lean on the horn and they might hear it and stop.
Maybe.

People think I’m just an asshole BMW driver for backing into every spot. But this is the exact reason, I can see obstacles much sooner while exiting.

I was in America some years ago and I remember often seeing signs outside motels and the like saying “do not back up”. I always made a point of “backing up”, preferably as near to the sign as possible, because not doing so was daft.

I think it’s probably a larger issue here in Colorado, given the cost of registration. My 2016 Wrangler was $900 for plates when new, and one year after was like $700 for registration. Granted, it was a 2013 Jetta...

Yeah, I’ve never lived anywhere where it was more than $100/year for registration (plus whatever one-time tax you pay on the initial purchase or for bringing it into the state).
